District Virtual Chess Club

Whether you want to learn to play, become a master, or participate in league tournaments, join the Virtual SDLAX HPL Chess Club!

SDLAX HPL will once again be running a chess club this year through chesskid.com. This is open to all students in all grades.  To join the club, interested chess players should complete the registration form below. They will receive an email with log-in information. Players who have previously joined will still need to register again, but will their credentials (login and password) will remain the same for this year.  All typical chess rules will apply. Once you join, you will be to learn, play, and solve puzzles in ChessKid. You can also play other SDLAX students! More information on these event to come!

What is Chess Kid?

NEW!! 2022-2023 HPL CHESS CHALLENGE

WHO:
  • All elementary and middle schools students may participate in the HPL Chess Challenge.
  • Students participate individually.
STRUCTURE:
There will be 4 rounds. Students will have a month window to complete each round. 
Round one: September 15 to November 15 
Round two: November 18 to January 15
Round three: January 18 to  March 18
Round four: March 22 to May 15


GUIDELINES: 
  • Each round consists of 10 or more questions.
  • Students will have 1 minute per question to answer.
  • Students first try will officially count.  
  • Students will accumulate points throughout the competition.
  • Top finishers will be recognized at the conclusion of the event.
