Dear SDLAX HPL Academic Biathletes,
Unfortunately, due to this year's COVID-19 virus, we will be modifying our scheduled face to face Academic Biathlon tournaments. Our number one priority at the end of the day is to find a way to honor all the hard work each academic biathlete has done in preparation for this year's Academic Biathlon while ensuring that everyone is safe. Therefore, we will be conducting the Academic Biathlon online this year. Although this isn't ideal and certainly can't duplicate the energy and excitement of the actual event, hopefully, it will still allow each team to showcase their creativity, hard work, and talents.

Virtual Academic Biathlon Instructions
Who: This is open to all teams that had previously registered with their HPL Teacher.
How: Follow all the instructions in this competition link. EACH team member must complete the challenge independently. Allow to 30 to 45 minutes to complete the challenge. The first attempt will count toward scoring. Then, all the individual scores will be added together to create a team score.
When: The deadline is May 10th. Teams will be notified of the final standings by May 17th. Top teams will be awarded medals and all teams will be celebrated.

What is the SD LAX HPL Academic Biathlon?
The SDLAX HPL Academic Biathlon is a creative problem-solving adventure that teaches and rewards creative and divergent thought processes, cooperative brainstorming, general intellect, leadership and a flair for the dramatic–all while providing an entertaining and educational experience for all. Four-person teams will complete the Academic Biathlon while displaying good sportsmanship and teamwork. Each team will ultimately showcase the outcomes of creativity and positive risk-taking.
